Title: Emergency Medical Technician
Location: Fountain Valley, CA
Department: Emergency Services
Status: Full Time
Shift: Nights (12 hrs)
Pay Range: $21.50/hr. - $30.65/hr.

Position Summary
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Orange Coast Medical Center. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with our core values: Integrity, Accountability, Best Practices, Compassion and Synergy. The employee shall support Orange Coast Medical Center's strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities. The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is an unlicensed caregiver working under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Physician. The EMT provides the most basic of patient care including, but not limited to: vital sign collection, specimen collection, performance of ECG testing, and delivery of personal hygiene/physical care. EMT's perform tasks as assigned and are instrumental in facilitating departmental/unit flow activities that support patient care and promote a safe, clean environment.

**Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job**
1. Follows directions and employs self-initiative.
2. Demonstrates knowledge of the clinical information system and applies principles to patient documentation.
3. Contributes to an effective and safe working environment; able to safely and competently perform assigned duties.
4. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights. Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial and other sensitive material in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and or employees.
5. Demonstrates the ability to use good customer service skills by managing and acknowledging patient family-significant other expectations.
6. Demonstrates tact, sensitivity and discretion.
7. Demonstrates the ability to integrate knowledge of job specific competencies.
8. Ability to be at work and be on time.
9. Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives.
10. Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.
11. Ability to prioritize and multitask.

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.

**Qualifications: Minimum Requirements**
**Qualifications/Work Experience:** One (1) year of acute care experience preferred
**Basic computer knowledge preferred**
**Education/Licensure/Certification:** High School Diploma or equivalency preferred
**Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification required**
**Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Card**
