Introduction : Aspen Medical has an exciting opportunity for Radiologists to partner with us in providing temporary contracted medical services to Military Treatment Facilities throughout the United States. Today’s posting will place you at the primary location of the Naval Medicine Readiness and Training Command, New England, Groton, Connecticut. Hospital: NMRTC Location: United States, New England, Groton, Connecticut Minimum Qualifications: Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) Education : Graduate from an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) at the time the degree was obtained (e.g. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support : Board-eligible or board certified as required in the TO Board Certification: (5.2.6.4.4) : Possess and maintain board certification in Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology or the American Osteopathic Board of Radiology Meet current Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) requirements (compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992, P.L. 102-539) Internship/Residency: Successful completion of an internship and residency program (corresponding to the specialty required in the TO) which has been approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association. After obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting (i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training). For purposes of this requirement, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Descriptions of such programs are described below. An internship program involves broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics gynecology, and pediatrics). Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training an appropriate accrediting body A residency program involves training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by an appropriate accrediting body A fellowship program involves advanced training (beyond residency training) in a given medical specialty in either a clinical or research setting in a hospital or an institution accredited in the United States for such training Experience : Possess a minimum of three (3) years of clinical practice in a Diagnostic Radiology Department within the last four (4) years Licensure : Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine as required in the TO Core Duties: Contractor personnel shall perform a full range of duties consistent with their labor category, education, training, experience, clinical privileges (as applicable), and assigned position. General duties that apply to all personnel or across certain labor categories are given below. Maintain a level of productivity comparable with that of other individuals performing similar services. Participate in peer review and performance improvement activities as requested by the Government Practice aseptic techniques as necessary. Comply with infection control guidelines to include the proper handling, storage, and disposal of infectious wastes, and the use of universal precautions to prevent the spread of infection Function with an awareness and application of safety procedures Perform efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events. Anticipate potential problems/emergencies and make appropriate interventions. Notify the supervisor, director, or other designated government person regarding problems that the HCW is unable to manage Apply an awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and strive to manage situations in a reduced-risk manner Participate in the implementation of the Family Advocacy Program as directed. Participation shall include, but not be limited to, appropriate medical examination, documentation, and reporting Exercise awareness and sensitivity to patient/significant others' rights, as identified within the MTF Maintain an awareness of responsibility and accountability for own professional practice Participate in continuing education to meet own professional growth. Basic Life Support (BLS) and other training in support of professional licensure or credentials may not be obtained at the MTF by an HCW during working hours Attend and/or comply with all annual training classes required by the Command, including but not limited to online annual training provided by the MTF: disaster training, infection control, Sexual Harassment, Bloodborne Pathogens, Fire and Safety, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE), and all other required training Actively participate in the command’s Performance Improvement Program. Participate in meetings to review and evaluate the care provided to patients, identify opportunities to improve the care delivered, and recommend corrective action when problems exist Participate in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Provide training and/or clinical direction as applicable to supporting government employees (e.g., hospital corpsmen, students, etc.) Attend and participate in various meetings as directed Perform timely, accurate, and concise documentation of patient care Operate and manipulate automated systems such as electronic health records, ADS, Essentris, Clinical Information Systems (CIS), and various other databases, participate in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM) functions, as prescribed by the Commander. Maintain DOD email account as directed. The HCW shall be responsive to all email and voicemail communications Exercise appropriate delegation of tasks and duties in the clinical direction and coordination of health care team members, patient care, and clinic activities Maintain documentation of all treatment provided under clinic directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required. All records and reports must be legible. Abbreviations must be only those listed in local instructions Additional Duties: Assigned to the Radiology Department. The HCW shall provide services within the scope of their competencies and clinical privileges as granted by the Commanding Officer, and the applicable duties provided in the basic contract Interpret routine radiographic studies including the chest, abdomen, extremities, head and neck Perform interpretation of special radiographic studies including fluoroscopic procedures (barium swallow, upper gastrointestinal studies, small bowel follow-through, etc.); radiographic procedures of the genitourinary tract, and musculoskeletal studies Interpret the results of screening, indicated, or diagnostic mammograms, including needle localization of any masses found Evaluate, interpret, and report diagnostic imaging findings, for all four (4) NHCNE sites, within the following parameters: routine examinations and findings within 96 hours; “STAT” examinations and findings within 15 minutes; “ASAP” examinations and findings within two (2) hours; critical results findings within one (1) hour of discovery Read and interpret all “A” Read Chest X-rays as required under the Asbestos Program Benefits: Virtual cations throughout the United States. Contract: Year-long assignment Hours of Performance: Duty hours will vary by position and location; however, typical duty hours are scheduled between 0700 -1700, Monday through Friday.
