Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Oncology team in a float capacity. As an LPN - Float Oncology, you will have the opportunity to provide vital support to our Oncology department. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

As an LPN - Float Oncology, you will play a crucial role in providing direct patient care under the guidance of registered nurses and physicians. Your responsibilities will include assisting with patient assessments, monitoring vital signs, and administering medications. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute comprehensive patient care plans. A key aspect of your role will involve educating patients and their families on treatment procedures, medication guidelines, and symptom management strategies. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate medical records and documentation, adhering strictly to infection control protocols and safety standards. Furthermore, you will actively participate in quality improvement initiatives and take advantage of ongoing training opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

This is an hourly, non-exempt position. Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but can vary. Work location is in Quincy, IL.

Qualifications

- Current licensure as an LPN in Illinois, Iowa, or Missouri, along with a current IL RN license and basic life support (BLS) certification.
- Preferably 1-2 years of nursing experience, oncology or related healthcare setting preferred.
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Commitment to providing compassionate care and support to patients facing cancer diagnoses.
- Basic computer skills for electronic medical record documentation.
- Completion of the Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course within 6 months of hire, with successful renewal every 2 years.
- Completion of the Oncology Certified Nurse Examination within 2 years of hire, with successful renewal every 4 years.
