Registered Respiratory Therapist

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Registered Respiratory Therapist will perform safe respiratory therapy modalities as ordered by physicians, develop care plans, set up and maintain mechanical ventilation, administer medications, and perform tracheal suctioning and blood gas analysis. This position requires a graduate of an approved Respiratory Care program with RRT or CRT credentials and a current license in the State of Connecticut. A minimum of one year of skilled respiratory experience within the last two years is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of one year of skilled respiratory experience within the last two years.
  • Must be able to work well in a multi-task, fast-paced patient care environment.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Must possess strong customer service skills and be able to communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, and physicians.
  • Access to reliable transportation is required to travel between multiple work sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Possess a strong understanding of blood gas analyzers and perform daily QC
- Demonstrate safe and proper sampling, collection, and transport of blood gases
- Perform pulmonary function testing and broncho provocation and exercise testing
- Demonstrate knowledge of respiratory equipment and monitoring systems
- Perform patient assessment and deliver various respiratory care services
- Administer medications and perform 12-lead EKGs as necessary
