Vista Del Mar provides a trauma-responsive continuum of services to empower children, youth, and families in Southern California to lead fulfilling lives.

Role Overview:

The Clinician I - MCOT provides direct clinical services to children/youth/adults dispatched to Vista by Department of Mental Health (DMH) for in person crisis response services. Services are provided in a strength-based non-judgmental manner that allows for immediate safety and resolution of a crisis. Emphasis is placed on providing whatever is needed to restore client to baseline functioning as soon as possible.

Essential Job Duties (other duties may be assigned):
  1. Provides crisis intervention services and/or linkage services to each client referred to the Vista MCOT program
  2. Completes required documentation in a timely manner and within the time frames established by Los Angeles County's Department of Mental Health, as well as this agency
  3. Collaborates with DMH as well as police and other community agencies to stabilize a mental health crisis and implement a safety plan for each client referred
  4. Maintains contact with appropriate agencies sharing critical information that will lead to stabilization
  5. Maintains contact and working relationship with family members or caregivers as needed to provide stabilization
  6. Keeps the Clinical Supervisor aware of overall case progress, as well as specific problem situations and discharge planning
  7. Serves on agency and community committees and participates in staff meetings
  8. Maintains and completes all required recordings in case records and all forms required by agency policy and procedures
  9. Maintains the established MCOT schedule that includes in person response visits, work in the community and required linkage and documentation
  10. Evaluates the de-escalation and crisis resolution of each client dispatched to Vista by DMH
  11. Adheres to all agency policies and DMH contract
  12. Is able to arrive at a differential diagnosis
  13. Is able to consolidate diagnostic information obtained to develop a dynamic formulation and make appropriate recommendations for the client
  14. Is able to establish effective therapist/client relationships
  15. Attends clinical meetings and supervision as needed

What you bring to VDM:
  • Education: Master's Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, LPCC or PsyD.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have BBS or BOP registration of licensure a valid state driver's license
  • Knowledge of physical and emotional developmental stages for children ages 7-17
  • California Driver's License

Schedule: Wednesday - Friday, 12am - 8am

Pay Range: $35.00 - $38.00 / hour
