GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Student Services Coordinator works collaboratively with District personnel and outside agencies to support all Beaumont USD students, under the general direction of the Director of Student Services. The Student Services Coordinator serves as a member of the Leadership Team and provides technical, consultative, and advisory services for meeting the social-emotional and academic needs of all students. The Student Services Coordinator plans, organizes, develops, and evaluates procedures designed to improve the educational process and outcomes for students by collaborating with principals, teachers, support staff, parents, students, and outside agencies.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborates with other Instruction and Support Services Departments and school sites to assist student transition to and from District programs;
  • Assists school personnel in identifying issues that pose barriers to students' learning and make recommendation for programs and strategies to meet identified needs;
  • Serves as liaison with community based organizations and maintains a networking relationship with appropriate community based organizations and agencies; E
  • Assists, as directed, with the policy and procedural planning, organization, and coordination of the District's student attendance/chronic absenteeism and School Attendance Review Board (SARB) policies and programs, serves as the chairperson of the Student Attendance and Review Board; E
  • Ensures complete compliance requirements related to Title IV and Tobacco-Use Prevention Education (TUPE); E
  • Serves as a resource in matters relating to Foster Youth, Homeless, and at-risk students; E
  • Connects Foster Youth and Homeless families to resources and supports necessary for student success; E
  • Serves as the liaison to various social services, group homes and residential facilities; E
  • Coaches, trains and provides professional development of Foster Youth and Homeless laws, regulations and compliance mandates; E
  • Facilitates the development of cooperative efforts between schools, caregivers, group homes, foster and community agencies in providing services and resources to students and caregivers; E
  • Translates and appropriately disseminates the laws, regulations, and codes governing schools and children into programs and activities designed to promote school achievement in at-risk students;
  • Provides timely and effective communications regarding incidents and/or situations which might impact the District, its divisions or schools;
  • Acts as a resource for students, parents, and staff on student discipline issues and formal complaints;
  • Develops and conducts various training programs for District personnel;
  • Assists in the review, development and implementation of District alternative and support programs;
  • Collaborates and assists with other Instruction and Support Services Departments with the implementation of the District's Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) including the implementation of the District's Educational Monitoring Team (EMT) process; E
  • Participates on the District's Student Crisis Management Team;
  • Monitors the case management for students in Licensed Care Institutions (LCI) who are enrolled in Beaumont Unified School District; E
  • Implements and monitors programs to assure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, court decisions and District policies;
  • Collaborates and coordinates with site administration on the operation of the program and supervision and evaluation of staff;
  • Provides direct supervision, coordination, and evaluation of certificated and classified staff;
  • Participates in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)/Positive Behavior Support Plan (PBSP) development;
  • Analyzes, develops, and offers alternative problem solutions to a variety of complex issues and concerns.
  • Facilitates and monitors purchase of materials for assigned programs;
  • Serves as the District 504 Coordinator; E
  • Serves as the Title IX Coordinator and facilitates Title IX and Uniform Complaint Procedure (UCP) training and investigations; E
  • Leads, trains and facilitates, oftentimes with site administration or other District personnel, various investigations initiated at school sites and the Educational Support Facility (ESF); E
  • Conducts Extension of Suspension meetings; E
  • Oversees health services personnel; E
  • Adheres to and implements the certificated and classified collective bargaining agreements;
  • Performs job assignment safely for the purpose of protecting people and property; E
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Credentials and Education:
  • Master's degree from an accredited university;
  • Valid Administrative Services Credential;
  • Clear California Teaching and/or Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential for K-12 settings.
Experience:
  • Five (5) years of teaching and/or school services experience to include but not limited to pupil personnel work, preferably in the K-12 setting;
  • Three (3) years of site administrative experience, preferably in the K-12 setting;
  • Experience working with children of various ages, abilities, cultures, and economic backgrounds, who have experienced trauma.
Licenses, Certifications, and Testing:
  • Pass a pre-employment physical and drug test;
  • A current and valid Tuberculosis (TB) clearance;
  • Fingerprint clearance for school personnel;
  • Must possess a valid California Driver License during the course of employment and be insurable by the District's liability insurance carrier.
Knowledge and skills of:
  • School law administration and applicable sections of the State Education Code;
  • State, federal, Board and District policies;
  • Principles and practices of administration, supervision, and training;
  • Applicable labor relations law and the collective bargaining agreement;
  • Human relations strategies, community relations strategies, conflict resolution strategies and team building techniques;
  • Standard office equipment and computer applications including Microsoft Office and Google Drive environments, with expertise in Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe;
  • Modern office methods, procedures, and equipment, including record-keeping principles, methods and procedures, electronic filing systems, archiving for records, letter and report writing.
