St Petersburg, United States The Kidz Club Full time
Job Title: Occupational Therapist (OT) at TKC Therapy
About Us:
TKC Therapy provides high-quality and intensive PT, OT, and ST services to children attending The Kidz Club (TKC), a Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) center. PPEC centers provide daily skilled nursing care to medically-complex children, ages birth to under 21.
Learn more about us by visiting our website: The Kidz Club - we help children who are medically complex and their families, or our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/thekidzclubstpete

Our Expectations:
As an OT at this facility, we highly prefer someone with neurodevelopmental and sensory integration experience, as this makes up a large majority of the caseload. The caseload heavily consists of children with genetic disorders, cerebral palsy, brain injuries, extreme prematurity, and other diagnoses that come with accompanying motor and sensory processing difficulties.
The children who attend The Kidz Club range from NICU-discharged infants to young adults in wheelchairs. You must be comfortable treating this wide range of population to be successful here.
This facility has a heavy focus on interdisciplinary collaboration. You must be able to work well with other therapists and staff (ST, PT, ABA, nurses, caregivers, etc.) throughout the day, and be comfortable with basic medical terminology and processes.
This setting consists of medically-complex children, some with accompanying behavior issues as well. You must be confident in your knowledge of therapeutic intervention for unique cases, as well as confident in your ability to manage disruptive behaviors.
We operate on a fee-for-service basis, meaning you are paid for the hours you bill face-to-face with each child. Because of this, you have flexibility in your schedule, but you also need to be hard-working, self-motivated, and efficient with time management.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone with an easy-going personality, who is quick on their feet, passionate about helping children with special needs, and always open to learning
Responsibilities:
1. Assess and diagnose a variety of developmental, congenital, neurological, and musculoskeletal disorders for the medical population, ages birth to 21.
  1. Develop individualized treatment plans following a comprehensive evaluation to address clients' sensory processing, motor skills, cognitive abilities, self-care skills, play skills, and overall functional performance.
  2. Utilize evidence-based practice in therapy sessions tailored to each client's specific impairments, including:
    • Sensory integration therapy to improve sensory processing and modulation.
    • Fine motor activities to enhance handwriting, manipulation skills, and hand-eye coordination.
    • Gross motor activities and orthotics to improve balance, coordination, mobility, and motor planning.
    • Self-care training to promote independence in activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, feeding, and grooming.
    • Social skills training to enhance peer interaction, communication, and play skills.
    • Environmental modifications to support participation in home, school, and community settings.
  3. Complete all documentation (evaluations, treatment notes, LMNs) in a timely, thorough manner.
  4. Supervision of COTAs when necessary.
  5. Provide education and guidance to clients, families, and caregivers on strategies for carry-over therapy at home.
  6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, and fellow therapists, to coordinate comprehensive care for clients.
  7. Stay current with advancements in the field through continuing education and professional development activities.
  8. Adhere to ethical and professional standards outlined by the NBCOT.
Qualifications:
1. Possession of a master's or doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program and state licensure from the Florida Department of Health.
  1. Clinical experience working with the pediatric population (medical pediatric population strongly preferred).
  2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  3. Proficiency using standardized assessment tools, therapeutic interventions, and assistive technologies relevant to the field.
  4. Commitment to maintaining professional competency and adhering to HIPAA policies and ethical standards.
  5. Current CPR (BLS) certificate.

Benefits: (for full-time, W2 employees)
  • Flexible schedule - start/end time and daily scheduling of patients is heavily up to therapist, as long as caseload productivity is being met. We are open Saturdays if you'd like the opportunity to see extra hours, but this is not required.
  • Increased rate for evaluations and re-evaluations.
  • 401K and Student Loan Reimbursement
  • Health Benefits or HRA
  • Vision and Dental Benefits
  • Life Insurance (Basic and Voluntary)
  • Long-Term Care with Death Benefit
  • FSA - Dependent Care
