Lampeter-Strasburg YMCA is hiring a Yoga Instructor to work Monday evenings.
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Wellness Instructor works to conduct a safe, effective, educational and fun wellness class in a manner that accomplishes the mission and goals of the YMCA of the Roses.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conducts a safe and effective land or water based wellness class designed to improve muscular and cardiovascular strength, flexibility and range of motion, balance, coordination and well being
- Puts the health and well-being of the class participant first in all aspects, providing exercise modifications for participant safety and success
- Builds authentic relationships with class participants, while also providing connections with other YMCA staff and members to enhance membership
- Is available to work regularly scheduled classes and to serve as a substitute instructor during weekday, weeknight and weekend classes as necessary
- Maintains working knowledge of wellness trends to provide effective information and support to participants
- Secures, sets-up and maintains equipment and facility as required for class, reporting any unsafe facility concerns to the Wellness Coordinator/Director
- Begins and ends class on time
- Maintains accurate attendance records
- Wears appropriate and approved attire, therefore being easily identifiable by participants and members; one YMCA staff shirt is provided and additional shirts may be purchased
- Applies YMCA OF THE ROSES policy/procedures for emergency situations, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Serves as a role model for other staff members by demonstrating exemplary job skills and behavior.
- Attends required staff meetings, educational workshops and certifications.
- Maintains certification by attending CEC classes and submitting required updated paperwork to the YMCA of the USA and the YMCA OF THE ROSES.
- Completes additional duties as assigned by the Wellness Coordinator/Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 18 years of age
- Must complete CPR/AED certification before teaching the first class.
- Experience as a participant and/or instructing between 1 to 2 years in a group exercise class or classes.
- Complete Living our Cause within 1 month of hire
- Complete the following within 3 months of hire:
- Orientation to Healthy Living at the Y
- Foundations of Listen First
- Principles of Member Health and Wellness
- Group Exercise at the Y
- Foundations of Group Exercise (offered by ACE)
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Ability to instruct and observe health seekers with proper form and technique.
- Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force regularly and 45 pounds of force occasionally.
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift grasp, talk, make repetitive motions, see and hear.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current yoga certification through nationally recognized fitness organization (i.e. ACE, AFFA, NDIETA, and YMCA....), at least 200-hour certification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 18 years of age
- Must complete CPR/AED certification before teaching the first class.
- Experience as a participant and/or instructing between 1 to 2 years in a group exercise class or classes.
- Complete Living our Cause within 1 month of hire
- Complete the following within 3 months of hire:
