Job Purpose

Leads a team of case managers to work with clients on reducing barriers and achieving goals towards stability. Shares the responsibility of maintaining a safe, clean, hospitable, and dignifying environment for all clients; assisting in the provision of trauma-informed, person-first, and grace-based program services to meet the need of all who seek TRM's care.

Helps create a safe space for Team Members to hold others accountable for behavior and performance, empathetically listens and communicates for understanding when negotiating and dealing with conflict. Setting the standard of quality, providing staff with feedback, coaching, guidance, and support.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervises case management and Coordinated Entry operations at assigned campus.
  • Leads case management team by providing guidance and coaching, ensuring team members' compliance with established standards, i.e., thorough case management sessions, individualized plans, ensuring client's progress toward goals, client documentation, security of records, etc.
  • Manages individual caseload as needed.
  • Coordinates case manager schedules to ensure proper coverage.
  • Utilizes case management expertise to inform leadership of best practices and how to continuously improve case management services.
  • Monitors client information and transactions in the HMIS database, ensuring HMIS data is kept current and accurate.
  • Maintains and builds strong relationships with other community agencies to offer additional support to clients.
  • Administers drug and alcohol tests for shelter clients as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support others and ensure an efficient and effective work environment.
Working Conditions

This position works primarily in an office setting with some travel to off-site locations. Interacts with diverse populations.

Tuesday-Saturday 8am to 4pm

* Normal business hours with some flexibility

Requirements
  • Associate degree in Social Services or related field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience working with low-income and diverse populations preferred.
  • Skilled in clear and effective written, verbal, and electronic communication.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment using effective and thoughtful interactions and communication.
  • Able to respond calmly and effectively when under stress when interacting with people who have high barriers, including but not limited to people with mental illness, who may be under the influences of various substances, may have weapons, and/or may be prone to violence.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
  • Basic operating knowledge of office equipment, computers, and Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Access to a vehicle for frequent travel throughout Pierce County and TRM locations.
Certificates & Licenses
  • Coordinated Entry Specialist Certification required at next available opportunity.
Physical Requirements
  • Stationary position 75% of the time.
  • Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Occasionally moves to respond to urgent situations.
  • Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Frequently positions self to maintain files in file cabinets.
  • Communicates information and ideas so others will understand. Exchanges accurate information in these situations.
  • Observes details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Frequently move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds across office for various needs.
  • Wears proper PPE (personal protective equipment) when necessary for exposure control.
