Shift: Part Time Sat and Sun 1st shift
Job Summary: Performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in CQI activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing imaging exams and procedures.
- Responsible to the proper use of equipment to minimize hazards of electrical shock or burns to patients, self and others.
- Responsible for safe handling of equipment and images.
- Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic and/or CT examinations.
- Selects appropriate equipment and techniques to minimize radiation to patients, self and others.
- Determines most suitable anatomical positions and shields patients accordingly.
- Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure - makes appropriate provider contact for intervention.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
- Utilizes portable or stationary x-ray equipment and produces quality images for a variety of examinations.
- Utilize the RIS and PACS systems for optimal workflow.
- Processes x-ray images without difficulty.
- Practices medial and surgical aseptic procedures.
- Assists in maintaining files, basic records and reports.
- Assists in training of students and ancillary personnel as needed.
- Interacts professionally with patients, family and visitors.
- Completes all work before clocking out and leaving.
- Is acquainted with local fire and safety regulations.
- Has knowledge of hospital policies and the functions of other departments.
- Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including, pediatric, geriatric and general population.
- Clearly marks images with patient demographics and laterality.
Professional Requirements:
- Adheres to dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly with radiologists, providers, staff, administration, patients and visitors.
- Completes annual educational requirements.
- Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and CMS regulations.
- Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time.
- Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with providers, departments and staff.
- Consistently completes and maintains assigned duties.
- Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized time/attendance system correctly.
- Attends annual review and departmental in-services, as scheduled.
- Attends staff meetings, reads all staff meeting minutes if absent from meeting.
- Maintains hospital requirements, policies and standards of conduct.
- Resolves personnel concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required.
- Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding departmental operations, including; fire, safety and infection control.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
- Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
- Communicates the mission, vision, core values, ethics and goals of the hospital.
- High School graduate.
- Graduate from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or a second year Rad Tech student.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or registry eligible. If registry eligible, must complete within 1 year of hire date. Or be a second year Rad Tech student.
- Certified by the State of Kansas to practice and administer radiation (or become certified within 1 year of hire date). Or be a second year Rad Tech student.
- Current BLS certification.
