As a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) at Lady Lake Specialty Center, you will be a key part of our in-house therapy team, responsible for providing individualized therapy to help residents recover their speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive functions. You will work directly with residents to help them regain independence in communication and swallowing, improving their quality of life. This position offers an opportunity to work in a motivating and rewarding environment where your expertise truly impacts residents' lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Treatment Plans: Assess residents' speech, language, and cognitive functions, and create personalized therapy plans to address their individual needs.
- Swallowing Therapy: Work with residents to improve swallowing function, collaborating with the dietary team to ensure safe eating and drinking for patients with swallowing difficulties.
- Communication Rehabilitation: Provide therapies to improve speech, language, and cognitive abilities, including training in alternative communication methods such as sign language, lip reading, and voice enhancement techniques.
- Patient and Family Education: Educate residents and their families on communication strategies, coping mechanisms, and ways to prevent misunderstandings or frustration.
- Documentation and Reporting: Keep accurate records of therapy progress, treatment plans, and adjust as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Collaboration: Work alongside physical therapists, occupational therapists, and nursing staff to ensure a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to resident care.
- Current Speech Language Pathologist License in the state of Florida
- Current CPR Certification
- Preferred Experience: At least one (1) year of experience in Skilled Nursing or Rehabilitation, though Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) applicants are welcome to apply
- Exceptional Patient Service Skills with a commitment to providing high-quality care
- Passion for Post-Acute Rehabilitation and helping the older adult population regain independence
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to interact effectively with residents, families, staff, and other healthcare professionals
