***$4,000 - Sign-On Bonus for Full-time externals, pro-rated for Part-time*** Medical Office LPN Ob/Gyn- Kingston, NY 40 hours per week, 8 hour shifts 8:30am-5:00pm. SUMMARY: Performs tasks and responsibilities within the framework of case finding, health teaching, health counseling, and provision of supportive and restorative care under the direction of a registered nurse or licensed health care provider.  RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Greet patients in waiting area, escort patients to clinical areas; escort patients to check-out.  Answer patient questions with regard to day's appointment, treatments and follow-up.
  2.  Telephone call-backs, and telephone care as directed by physician/provider and RN.
  3.  Patient counseling and education as directed by provider (verbal, brochures, handouts).
  4.  Focus on patient needs while maintaining an organized and efficient workflow as established by policies and standards. 
  5. Preparation of medical record in advance of appointment. This includes anticipatory tasks such as consent forms, ABNs, PHI Release, obtaining medical records from other providers/facilities, and updating of EMR, when appropriate. 
  6. Patient check-in: obtain and document chief complaint, vital signs, history, ordered CLIA waived tests; Capture charges for provision of ancillary services. 
  7.  Assists patients with the completion of patient summaries, medication/allergy reconciliation at every office visit, history forms, and in obtaining appropriate treatment consents. 
  8. Prepare patient and exam room; chaperone and assist physician/provider with examination, procedures and treatments if needed. 
  9. Administer and document injections, dispense and document medications as directed by physician/provider. 
  10. Labeling and handling of labs, paps, cultures, biopsies and other specimens; Preparation of laboratory and imaging requisitions. 
  11. Assist with coordination of further patient care and follow-up, and carry out tasks as directed by RN and/or physician/provider. This may include communication with patient, hospital, labs, imaging centers, pharmacies, physician offices, insurance plans. 
  12.  Clean and prepare exam room for next encounter. 
  13.  Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, tests and treatments, in the medical. 
  14. Maintain infection control measures with all patient contact. Comply with standards of Infection Control and Quality Improvement Policies and Procedures at all times. 
  15.  Promotes a safe and efficient working environment by adhering to safe equipment and supply handling Policies and Procedures at all times. 
  16. Keep and maintain daily log of all laboratory/imaging requisitions. 
  17. Daily reconciliation of lab reports/imaging including documentation, as appropriate. 
Required:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of starting.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse licensure.
  • Basic medical knowledge and terminology.
  • Computer skills/data entry.
  • Skilled in obtaining accurate patient vitals.
  • Vaccine administration and medication preparation.
Preferred:
  • Minimum Experience: one year.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages.
  • Phlebotomy.
  • EKG.
Education Required:
  • HS Graduate or Equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN Program.

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
