This person is expected to acknowledge and uphold the City Mission’s Statement of Faith. This person is responsible for providing support to individuals at various points in their journey. The Life Coach is responsible for providing hands-on assistance, and communicating amongst various community agencies to promote a successful transition for the resident. This position reports directly to the Director of Campus Ministries.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to individuals recovering from mental health and/or addiction, or chronic homelessness. This includes creating, maintaining and monitoring goals and progress.
  • Facilitate communication between residents, coaches, providers and other key individuals and staff members to provide the greatest level of support and treatment.
  • Provide hands-on support to individuals, including, but not limited to scheduling appointments, assistance with completing applications, obtaining personnel documents (i.e. birth certificate), assisting in childcare and/or housing searches.
  • Model and assist individuals in the journey with appropriate and effective coping techniques
  • Work directly with the Wellness Center Coordinator to establish and coordinate wellness services
  • Advocate and coordinate services and appointments between the individual and community agencies
  • Network with external agencies and programs to develop and strengthen partnerships
  • Additional duties as needed
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Experience working with under resourced, culturally diverse and vulnerable populations
  • Ability to provide a high level of empathy
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential information
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Experience utilizing a client service tracking system for documentation and communication
  • Experience directly related to health and wellness initiatives, and working with community and government agencies.
  • Ability to meet residents and individuals where they are, listen to concerns without judgement, and address shared concerns respectfully, and appropriately.
  • Ability to perform job duties with limited supervision, in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Flexibility and ability to work some weekends and evenings, as needed.
