Histology Technician

Under general supervision, an employee in this Position performstechnical laboratory work in the preparation of biological tissuespecimens for histopathologic examination. The work involves utilizingsophisticated laboratory instruments and techniques to cut, mount, andstain tissue specimens, producing microscopic slides which assist theMedical Examiner or other consulting Pathologist in makinghistopathological diagnoses that may relate to a decedent’s cause ofdeath. The employee adheres to established laboratory practices andprocedures, including those involving infection control. MINIMUMREQUIREMENTS One year of experience in a laboratory setting that musthave involved the performance of microtomy, and either: a) Licenseissued by the State of New York to practice as a Certified HistologicalTechnician; or, b) License issued by the State of New York to practiceas a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technician; or, c) License issued bythe State of New York to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist;or, d) License issued by the State of New York to practice as aCytotechnologist Annual Salary: $46,354 plus excellent benefit package
