APU Assembly Technician

Piedmont Aviation Component Services is looking for a qualified APU Assembly Technician. APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) is a turbine engine utilized on the aircraft to provide electrical and pneumatic power during periods when the main engines are not running. The following is a list of job duties that an APU Assembly Technician will perform:
- Responsible for the assembly, testing, and travelers related to LRUs, components, parts and tools.
- Secondary responsibilities consist of disassembly, cleaning, analytical inspection, rework schemes, painting, packaging, and other duties as assigned.
- Read and interprets maintenance manuals, or other technical data to determine the feasibility and method to perform the assigned task.
- Replaces or repairs damaged or worn engine parts and component parts using general hand tools, special tools, pneumatic tools and precision measuring equipment. Assembles components with same tools and equipment.
- Maintains work areas and tools in a clean and organized manner, practices proper tool and FOD control.
- Accurately complete work orders, BOMs, data inputs within ERP system.
- Reads and understands Commercial, FAA, EASA, Repair Station, and ISO documentations and other related materials.
- Operates, maintains and services specialized equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED minimum.
- Experience in Honeywell 331 series APU’s preferred.
- Technical school courses in auto or diesel mechanics or machinist classes preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of mechanical experience required and must have a strong aptitude for acquiring new mechanical skills and knowledge.
- Experience in turbine engine overhaul or engine component overhaul required.
- FAA Airframe and/or Power Plant license or equivalent certification preferred but not required.
- Ability to use precision measuring equipment and hand tools appropriate to the assigned tasks.
- Ability to locate, read and follow the technical data appropriate for the assigned task.
- Must be able to read, write and understand English fluently.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
