Lead Medical Technologist

Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Lead Medical Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of clinical tests exercising independent judgement in the specialties or subspecialties as qualified. The Lead Medical Technologist performs various biochemical, microscopic and/or Blood Bank tests to obtain data for use in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of disease and acts as supervisor in the absence of the department supervisor.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepares specimens for examination, performs a variety of routine and/or complex laboratory tests and procedures and reports results.
  • Troubleshoots basic instrumentation, technical problems and methodologies.
  • Performs routine and/or preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  • Monitors the department's quality control policies and ensures documentation of all quality control activities, instrument, and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Ensures that departmental supplies are stocked and well maintained.
  • Monitors service priorities and workflow patterns to assure prompt and efficient delivery of services
  • Evaluates departmental performance and recommends measures to improve services
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related science from an accredited school.
  • Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist under the NYS Department of Education required.
  • Four to Six years successful experience as a Medical Technologist preferred.
  • Good oral and written communication skills required.


The pay for this position ranges from $51.30 - X$60.00per hour.

This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
