The GIS Analyst position will support the AES Development team, creating mapping applications and detailed data visualizations to facilitate project development and community outreach. Mapping visuals will aid collaboration among internal teams and advance development strategy and design optimization efforts. Community stakeholder communication will be enhanced by maps depicting a project's design, relationship to adjacent properties/landowners, and conformity to local land use and ordinance requirements. The position will manage project related data through early to late-stage development, collecting data from internal teams and outside vendors. Exemplary data includes tax parcel boundaries, land use, environmental, project design layers, survey, and electrical infrastructure. The GIS Analyst position is a newly created role for the Development team. A key function of this role will include the establishment of new processes for data management, field data collection, as well as the design of templates for project maps and applications.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

  • Creating presentation level maps and visuals to aid stakeholder communication in the project land use entitlement and permitting process
  • Develop mapping applications with ArcGIS Web AppBuilder or similar tools to assist collaboration among AES teams involved in the development process
  • Collect and manage geospatial data from internal and external sources
  • Collaborate with internal teams on the requirements of project mapping deliverables, identifying opportunities for template designs appropriate for broader implementation across the Development team
  • Develop appropriate schemas for the naming and cataloging of geospatial data utilizing ArcGIS Online/Enterprise or similar portal platform
  • Identify appropriate tools, workflows and best practices to be utilized in field data collection and the integration of geotagged photos
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, or related field with minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS Pro, 3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst, ModelBuilder, ArcGIS Online, QGIS)
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Online platform and associated products (Web AppBuilder, Story Maps, Collector)
  • Experience in cartographic design, map generation, and data visualization
  • Experience in geospatial data management, data conversion
