As a multi-discipline firm, Isett provides a full range of engineering and consulting services, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, environmental, geotechnical, and municipal engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, code enforcement, plan review, construction management, construction materials testing, and grant writing services to clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Isett is looking for an experienced Grants Specialist with persuasive writing skills to coordinate, draft and submit grant applications in partnership with our municipal clients to secure funds their enhance their communities.

The grants specialist will report to the Grants Manager and focus their efforts primarily on clients in our Lehigh Valley region. This position could be based out of any of our 9 offices but would include travel throughout the Lehigh Valley, Southeast and Central PA regions to client meetings.

Understanding that grant programs are cyclical, the Grants Specialist will also assist with general administrative duties of the Public Division's departments and/or the Public Division marketing initiatives.

The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional oral and written communication skills, the ability to work within tight deadlines and channel their competitive nature into securing funds for our clients.

The key responsibilities of a Grants Specialist include the following:
  • Drafting persuasive written content for grant applications that adheres to the unique guidelines and needs specific to each program, as well as necessary supporting documents and materials to support the application. Submit complete application packages and track progress.
  • Taking photographs of project sites and creating photo sheets with captions to support applications.
  • Communicating with clients regularly to ensure complete and consistent final applications are submitted before grant program deadlines.
  • Consulting with project/client managers who will provide necessary technical, expert, and professional needs necessary to develop a project of application (scopes of work, cost estimates, project timelines, concept plans, permits/approvals, quantifiable data, and other technical documentation).
  • Identifying new grant opportunities via newspapers, magazines, and other publications of a business nature and performing "at desk" research, communicating with client(s), and/or visiting project sites to acquire background information necessary to write a competitive application.
  • Attending meetings, conferences, forums, and other educational venues and participating in webinars both to gain knowledge and create new contacts/leads.
  • Generate publicity through newspapers, magazine articles, etc.
  • Creating location maps with project overlays utilizing Microsoft Office and Google Earth.
  • On occasion, lending support to the marketing and administrative teams in gathering and preparing information, and proof reading for proposals and marketing materials.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Associate Degree in communications, professional writing, journalism, marketing, or a related field or several years of experience in a similar role in the public or private sector is required.
  • Coursework and/or experience in parks and recreation, business, local government, or municipal planning is helpful.
  • Experience working in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must possess a valid driver's license for travel to clients and other offices.
