Summary:
The Field Inspector is present on fiber optic construction projects to ensure that the fiber cable is being constructed properly and meeting the project requirements. The field staff will coordinate the various activities on the project and also take detailed field records of the installed fiber cable.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Ability to follow OSHA/State/Local Safety Standards
Record daily activities in construction inspector journal
Identify unsafe actions performed by contractor, record/report to crew Supervisor
Provide guidance on engineered construction prints
Generate As-Built records, by hand or digital format
Identify and record deficiencies
Effectively communicate corrective actions to subcontractor
Effectively communicate with lessor experienced inspectors
Understanding of required PPE
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Qualifications and Skills:
Ability to read and understand maps, drawings and diagrams for fiber construction
Fiber and outside plant knowledge
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
Must be able to sit for periods of time and be able to perform physical activities such as bending, standing, climbing and walking in construction areas
Maintain strict confidentiality guidelines in accordance with company policy.
Demonstrate dependability through good attendance, punctuality and adherence to timelines and schedules.
Ability to work effectively as a team player and project a positive attitude.
Able and willing to continue business skill development, training, and schooling as needed.
Education/Experience:
Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
