At the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, our diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities are some of the most advanced in the world. From the child with rumination syndrome or gastroparesis, to those with food allergies or constipation, we are blazing the trail to best possible outcomes for our patients.
The Gastroenterology Staff RN serves in the Clinic and assists patients to move rapidly, uneventfully, and as effectively as possible through their episode of care while maintaining quality and safety as a priority. This position will perform cross-training to other roles as appropriate.

Responsibilities• Coordinates efficient clinic patient flow and manages unexpected situations and patient/parent needs/concerns.• Provides comprehensive discharge instructions/educational material to patients and families.• Assesses and prioritizes individualized patient needs and communicates pertinent information to providers.• Delegates patient care needs to assigned Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), and Allied Health personnel.• Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach.
• Plans, implements, educates and evaluates care using Evidence-Based Practices.• Documents according to organizational standards, policies, and procedures.• Utilizes Therapeutic Communication while monitoring the physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and families.• Engages in the “workplace community” by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, participating in relevant meetings and then reporting important information back to staff as appropriate.
QualificationsEducation:
BSN; ADN with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire.
Licensure:
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio
Certifications:
Current Basic Life Support certification required upon hire.
-Must be willing to obtain and maintain NRP and PALS certification as determined by your manager.
