The Respite Worker for Behavioral Health is responsible for providing short-term non-medical care and supervision to allow caregivers an interval of rest, relief, or time for his/her own needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Support the needs of the caregiver and provide the necessary supervision and care to the client.

Activities in the home or community include, but are not limited to, the following:

2.11 Assisting the child with homework

2.12 Activities of daily living

2.13 Recreational activities
-
2.14 Sports
-
2.15 Sightseeing
-
2.16 Cultural enrichment
-
2.17 Community activities
-
Generally, respite is provided in the home. However, transportation into the community may be provided if it relates to the caregivers’ need or desire to be at home without interruption, distraction, noise, etc to accomplish goals.

Listen to and respond to the needs of service recipients, parents/guardians, area program staff, and agency management.

Document all activities in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.

Complete all mandated training and maintain as required.

Communicate in a professional manner with service recipients, employers, parents/guardians, area program staff, and agency staff.

Required day to day contact with service recipients, parents/guardians, area program staff, and agency management, both face-to-face and by telephone.

Advocate for service recipients in all situations.
-
Abide by all agency policies and procedures.

Perform job duties in accordance with agency mission and values.

Other duties as assigned.

Ability to work as a member of a team, to complete tasks as instructed, be receptive to new ideas, and be creative in solving problems.

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma, G.E.D. equivalent required.

Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required

Computer proficiency required
-
Must be 18 years of age or older and have no history of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of children or vulnerable adults.
-
Reliable transportation (including valid driver’s license, insurance, vehicle registration, and acceptable driving record within company insurance guidelines) is highly preferred so service recipients can be transported if needed.

Must complete criminal background and other pre-hire requirements.
