Registered Nurse - PRN

This job description outlines the Registered Nurse- PRN's objective, primary responsibilities, requirements, and qualifications. This description is not meant to be an exhaustive list of services, as the duties to be performed will vary.

Objective: To oversee the care of clients and monitor aides, perform nursing assessments, and write, monitor, and update care plans for clients with a home care agency

This job will be performed on a PRN schedule. Compensation is between $35.00 - $40.00 per hour. Hours will vary.

Reports to: Owner and/or Director of Operations

Primary Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Travel to clients' homes and complete all documentation for nursing assessments and observations
  • Plan evaluations pertaining to clients and caregivers
  • Evaluate clients regularly and/or as necessary to ensure client needs are consistent with the care plan
  • Coordinate with management on implementing and revising operational procedures related to quality client care
  • Utilize professional assessment skills to identify the physical, mental, and psycho-social needs of the client and be able to develop a care plan to meet these needs in a multi-disciplinary approach
  • Function as a resource and mentor to peers and subordinates to maintain professional nursing standards
  • Act on the client’s behalf to ensure patient rights
  • Be aware of home safety issues, strive to accomplish all responsibilities safely, and consistently, and reinforce good safety attitudes and practices displayed by other staff members
  • Document any client complaints concerning a caregiver and review complaints with the management team
  • Coach all staff in proper safety procedures and consistently reinforce procedures

Qualifications:

  • Able to work as a team member
  • Able to maintain confidential information
  • Able to communicate effectively with company staff, the clients, and client’s families
  • Able to handle occasional physical and verbal mistreatment from clients in an appropriate professional manner at all times
  • Able to supervise (instruct, assign work, etc.) caregivers while on duty
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills, adaptable in different situations, and possess excellent client interaction skills
  • Able to multi-task and work independently

Required Education and Experience:

  • Current RN licensure
  • CPR Certification
  • Current TB Test
  • Must maintain CEU requirements as required by the Board of Nursing
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
