Job Summary

The Dialysis Nurse Coordinator is responsible for the planning and delivery of family-centered care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, implementation, and evaluation. Responsible for directing, coordinating, and performing nursing care for inpatients requiring CRRT, hemodialysis and/or peritoneal dialysis based on established clinical practices. The Dialysis Nurse's knowledge, skills and abilities include a comprehensive understanding of kidney disease including machine set-up, monitoring of patients in the acute setting, administration of ordered medications, complication management for the dialysis patient, providing patient/family education, and teaching/mentoring peers. Collaborates with the patient/family and interdisciplinary professionals and any contracted services to create partnerships that deliver effective and efficient care for the mutually desired patient outcomes. The Dialysis Nurse is a resource for staff with an expertise in dialysis and acts as an educator thorough the incorporation of learning theory and age-appropriate guidelines. Works to support the organization's mission and vision while promoting and providing excellent nursing care, patient/family and staff education and training and participates in, performs and/or oversees quality initiatives, audits and reporting as directed. Position requires participation in on-call rotation (night, weekend or as defined by individual program needs).

Pay Range
Minimum $54.77 Midpoint $71.20 Maximum $87.63

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

Required: Minimum one (1) year of dialysis nursing experience.

Preferred: Two years of pediatric dialysis experience.

Education

Required: Graduation from an accredited school of Registered Nursing: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Training

Required: Successful completion of a training course in the theory and practice of care of the end stage renal disease (ESRD) patient. Basic Dialysis Education program.

Specialized Skills

Licensure

Required: Registered Nurse (RN) - California; Basic Life Support (BLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
