JOB SUMMARY:

The Health and Safety Specialist (EHS) will provide EHS support to employees and management at the assigned field operations, promote a positive safety culture, implement and manage corporate health and safety programs, promote continuous safety awareness and improvement, and provide required training.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide safety support in promoting safety awareness and safe work practices to achieve a safety culture with zero incidents and maintain regulatory compliance
  • Understands and is knowledgeable in applicable EPA, OSHA, MSHA, and DOT regulations
  • Assists in the development and implementation of EHS procedures, policies, and guidelines
  • Conducts inspections and audits, as required, to ensure compliance with Company Policies and regulatory compliance
  • Conduct remedial driver safety training based on individual driver performance
  • Inspecting load securement, load documentation, measurements, and permits) as time permits.
  • Assists in the mitigation of identified hazardous conditions and/or unsafe acts with employees and management
  • Participates in incident investigations and assists with the development of corrective actions and completion of reports as required
  • Assists in case management of Workers' Compensation Claims
  • Supports incident statistics for assigned terminals
  • Assist with the development and review of site work plans and safety plans as requested
  • Ability to represent the Company during regulatory inspections, audits, and meetings
  • Preparation of reports as requested by Operations and Safety Leadership
  • Deliver prescribed lesson plans and instructional materials.
  • Conducts employee EHS training and supports continued improvement of programs
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and other incidents. Provides EHS support during these incidents
  • Supports air monitoring and exposure assessment programs for employees as identified
  • Additional duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School education or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in the field of Occupational Safety & Health preferred
  • 3-5 years of health and safety experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of EPA, OSHA, DOT, and MSHA regulations
  • Strong organizational and communication skills required
  • Successful completion of HAZWOPER & OSHA 501/511 certification within 24 months
  • Ability to travel at least 60% of the time
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • Ability to lift > 25 pounds,
  • Ability to obtain Medical & Respirator Clearance
  • Ability to be part of an On-call rotation, being available nights and weekends during rotation
Work Environment:
  • Sometimes, it requires sitting, standing, walking, pulling or pushing, stooping, crouching, and climbing
  • Potential for the environment to be extremely cold and hot
  • Remote or confined areas
  • Dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, snow, ice
  • Close proximity to Hazardous Material or Waste
