We are searching for a Supervisor of Coding Compliance - someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide support to the Manager of Coding & Quality Assurance. Assist with follow-up on processes assigned, ensure continuity of coded accounts, and monitor accuracy to ensure accounts do not exceed acceptable Bill Hold and AR days. Ensure that Texas Children's Hospital codes according to government regulations and coding guidelines. Assist the Coding Technicians
with the implementation and training of any new and existing software applications. Reviews coding denials and provide education to the Coding Technicians when appropriate. Work closely with Business Services, Admissions, Billing, Medical Records, Care Management, and healthcare providers to retrieve information supporting coding. Assist with special projects as assigned for management.

Responsibilities
- Supervises, ensures competencies and evaluates the activities of assigned staff. Conducts daily and weekly analysis of reports, which assess the departments performance and identifying corrective action plans where required (stats, productivity, quality, staff churn/turnover and attendance). Distributes workloads and work queues and makes adjustments to staff allocation to ensure that the agreed service levels are met at all times.
- Initiates timely contact with providers to be able to code outstanding accounts. Monitors work queues lag days/high dollar accounts to align with departmental standards. Follows up with coders to expedite the completion of any old charges to avoid past filing deadlines. Communicates with the coding team to determine which accounts are lacking documentation.
- Conducts quality reviews and provide education to the staff as needed. Provides educational sessions or events as well as acts as a mentor to newly hired coders, including but not limited to the involvement in the job shadowing segment of training and addressing arising questions.
- Actively participates in special assignments, programs, or improvement initiatives with successful outcomes. Actively participates in the special assignments, programs, or initiatives relating to departmental performance such as special training in new coding and auditing techniques, new laws or code changes. Assists in planning and presenting in all Coding Team meetings and on-site events.
- Assists in training new employees on how to use work queues and work accounts in the encoder. Assists in training of new employees which will include; evaluating accounts; accessing and reviewing coded accounts, documentation requirement, escalation process and overall daily routine. Assists with ongoing questions from new employees until they are fully trained
Skills & Requirements
- Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children's unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
- Required H.S. Diploma or equivalent, preferred bachelor's degree

- RHIA - Cert-Reg Health Inform. Admins by the American Health Information Management Association
- RHIT - Cert-Reg Health Inform. TECH by the American Health Information Management Association
- CCS - Cert-Cert Coding Specialist by the American Health Information Management Association
- CCA - Certified Coding Associate American Health Information Management Association
- CCS-P - Cert-CCS-P Physician Based by the American Health Information Management Association
- CPC - Cert-Cert Professional Coder by the American Academy of Professional Coders
- CPC-A - Cert Prof Coder - Apprentice by the American Academy of Professional Coders
- COC - Certified Outpatient Coder by the American Academy of Professional Coders
- CIPC - Certified Inpatient Coder by the American Academy of Professional Coders
