Title: SPCA Cincinnati Kennel Technician
Department: Kennel
Position Reports to: Senior Operations Manager
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Purpose of Position: To house, feed and keep clean the animals in our care. To show animals to potential adopters when requested.
Responsibilities:
This position description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position. Employees are required to follow any other job related duties assigned by their supervisor. - Cleaning assigned areas. This task involves cleaning up after the animals, including urine, feces, and other waste material.
- Assuring that animals in assigned cleaning area(s) have food and water.
- Performing shows and releases. This involves customer service as the staff member is showing animals to potential adopters and/or releasing animals to their new adopters or owners.
- Constant cleaning of hallways, walls and windows in the whole facility.
- Report to veterinarians any animal that is bleeding, sick or appears to have an injury.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to follow instructions as given in either form.
- Ability to handle stressful and/or difficult situations as presented by visitors, staff and/or volunteers.
- Ability to work in environments with possible exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, traffic hazards, pathogenic substances, animal attacks and animal bites.
- Must be 18 years of age, has a high school diploma or equivalent GED, valid driving license with a clean record.
- Ability to operate a computer and knowledge of commonly associated software programs.
- Ability to lift 30 lbs. or more, work with all species of animals, have the physical ability to maintain balance, scoop, crouch, and reach over your head.
- Ability to work daytime, evenings and weekends as assigned.
