Our client is seeking a Grant Accountant to join their team in Chicago They are targeting a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to handle key financial tasks such as managing grant budgets, preparing financial reports for funders, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Candidates MUST BE local to Chicago and have a strong background in finance, with experience in nonprofit organizations and grants management.

Grant Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Track, record, and report expenditures for grant-funded programs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with grant terms
    • Ensure adherence to City, County, State, and Federal funding requirements, while maintaining relationships with grant funders, program managers, and internal/external partners
      • Oversee full auditing processes, manage agency billing, prepare interim reports, and generate detailed financial reports for funders
      Grant Accountant Requirements:
      • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
        • 3+ years of experience in finance or accounting, with specific experience in grants management within a nonprofit environment
          • Proficiency in Great Plains and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
            • Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain accuracy when handling grant financial data, preparing reports, and performing reconciliations
              • Problem-Solving Skills: Comfortable identifying and resolving discrepancies in grant financial reports or budgets
