JOB SUMMARY: Practices within the professional boundaries established by the Board of Nursing in assessing patients' needs, administering physician prescribed treatments, teaching patients and family members about their disease state and the corresponding treatments and side effects, counseling of patients and family members when appropriate and assisting the physician in the overall care of the patients.
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Coordinate communication between clinics/Schedulers and IVR physicians/nurses.
- Review the patient's electronic medical records once a procedure is cleared by the interventional radiologist.
- Instruct scheduler to schedule the procedure. Ensure the essential labs are obtained prior to scheduling patient.
- Ensure that schedulers know that IVR procedures are priority-if multiple procedures are scheduled for the day then ensure that the patients will remain NPO.
- Coordinate preoperative consult with interventional radiologist on all chemoembolization', kyphoplasty's, angiograms, ablations and any other procedure that interventional radiologist deems necessary.
- Coordinate with social service/nutrition for all supplies that a patient will need at home.
- Coordinate Y-90's (pre and post)
- Work with precert team on procedure to ensure our ability to take care of patient at this facility.
- Provide on-site patient care and infusion services to all patients, including coordination of care with physician, other staff members and ancillary services when needed.
- Responsible for starting intravenous catheters and infusion ports. Administer medicines, monitors vital signs and assist patients with any personal needs.
- Provide patient teaching on all new patients regarding disease, treatment information and available support services and counseling options as indicated.
- Triage telephone calls, resolve patient issues and concerns, review problems with physician and take appropriate action.
- Responsible for communicating to the Radiologist the status of the patient's medical status (healthiness or unhealthiness) to undergo a radiologic procedure.
- Will be able to perform duties including: administering intravenous fluids, monitoring vital signs, monitoring patients, and cardiac/pulse oximeters.
- Transport patients to and from procedures.
- Administer/evaluate new and existing programs/protocols.
- Maintain accurate patient charts/records and document nursing actions and functions.
- Expertise in IV therapy skills and injections.
- Instruct patients, families, caregivers, and nurses on patient care.
- Active participant in the imaging department, working as a team member; assist other staff members with additional projects or assignments as delegated.
- Coordinate patient care activities with homecare or other ancillary services.
- Maintain hematology/oncology expertise at all times.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of biotherapy, chemotherapy and infusion therapy drugs and their potential side effects.

- Strong problem solving skills and critical care judgment skills
- Provide on-site patient care and infusion services to all patients, including coordination of care with physician, other staff members and ancillary services when needed.
- Participate in continuing education/training activities including monthly online training.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff.
- Ensure that supplies and equipment are stored in an organized and efficient manner.
- Demonstrate correct and safe technique in the use of equipment according to specific product information.
- Follow appropriate procedure for obtaining and returning or cleaning/disposing of equipment and supplies.
- Participate in economical utilization of supplies and ensure equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
- Assist patients, family members or other clients with concern and empathy; respect their confidentiality and privacy and communicate with them in a courteous and respectful manner.
- Answer and refer telephone calls or other inquiries to ensure accurate and timely communications are facilitated.
- Identify yourself in a pleasant and positive manner.
- Take responsibility for helping the caller.
- Assist in the orientation/training for new colleagues.
- Assist other colleagues in the performance of their assignments.
- Seek out opportunities to help rather than waiting to be asked.
- Consider the impact of your actions on colleagues throughout CARTI.
- Take directions and initiate actions (cross/additional training) that will allow the assumption of cross-functional duties to ensure seamless workflow.

- Demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns.
- Investigate and follow through on unusual orders or requests for service or information.
- Follow proper reporting procedures for actual or potential accidents and/or incidents so follow up and/or prevention can occur.
- Record/report the need for service maintenance or repair of equipment and remove any faulty equipment from service.
- Consistently evaluate work and determine if further steps are needed to meet client expectations.
- Take initiative to do to redo inadequate or incomplete work, even if it is not yours.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary.
- Minimize non-productive time and fill slow periods with activities that will enable you to prepare to meet the future needs of the company (education, organizing, housekeeping, assisting others).
- Organize job functions and work area to be able to effectively complete varied assignments within established time frames.

- Comply with policies and procedures concerning safety.
- Comply with the company's infection control policies and procedures including Body Substance Isolation (BSI) and the Exposure Control Plan which reflects OSHA Blood borne Pathogens Standard to ensure a safe working environment for self and others.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures and ability to reference them from appropriate sources.
- Demonstrate adherence and support of company-wide service standards as evidenced by observation and feedback from patients, family members, and other clients.

Requirements
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Possess a valid and current state RN license
- Maintain required number of continuing education units (CEU's) as specified by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification to be completed within year of hire and remain current
- Current chemotherapy certification or completion of program within six months of hire.
- Minimum 3 years clinical experience in direct patient care
- Experience in an intensive care or emergency department, preferred
- Excellent computer and other basic office equipment skills
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions
- Must provide proof of certification, within year of hire, of competency in Conscious Sedation
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
- Must interact and communicate both verbally and in written form.
- Must interact and exchange information regarding patients with physicians and other departmental personnel, and outside agencies on a frequent basis while respecting the confidentiality of patient information.
