Principal Accountabilities Sales/Use Tax
- Review invoices and monthly reporting for sales and use tax as prepared by Staff Accountant.
- Review and approve any exemption certificates.
- Supervise and review the preparation of personal property tax reporting and related compliance.
- Review of real estate assessments and payments, assist Director of Tax and Risk Management with appeals.
- Oversee state annual reporting
- Supervise and review bottle deposit compliance and manage process with customers.
- Review capital project accounting and analysis prepared by staff accountant and ensure that the project is properly accounted for in accordance with IRS regulations.
- Responsibility for monthly journal entries and account reconciliations for tax accounts and other accounts as assigned.
- Preparation of related company tax workpapers and coordination with outside tax preparer.
- Complete special assignments as required
Education and Experience
- 4 year degree in accounting or finance
- Certificates or advanced degree helpful, but not required
- Strong computer skills-proficient in MS Office, Excel, Queries
- Showcase experience helpful
- 3-5 years' experience in accounting and/or tax preparation preferably with a CPA firm or internal tax department within the manufacturing industry
- Excellent communication skills---verbal & written
- Able to ambulate fingers and hands to type/use computer and telephone consistently
- Able to work a flexible work schedule
