Roving Custodian

Join Our Team as a Roving Custodian in the Parks Department as this position is responsible for performing a variety of routine and non-routine maintenance duties and repairs in the overall upkeep of the Park District buildings. We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team. This person will travel to multiple facilities to help improve the cleanliness of the facilities during their busy times and also complete special deep cleaning projects as needed.
The schedule for this role is Monday through Friday, from 4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with occasional adjustments based on business needs. This position also serves as backup coverage for team members who are absent due to illness, vacation, or other reasons, and may require flexibility in hours to meet operational demands.
JOB SPECIFIC INFORMATION
- Responds to and resolves custodial or repair situations that require immediate attention
- Travels to Park District buildings to perform a variety of routine and non-routine maintenance and building repair projects, as needed
- Operates a Park District vehicle to transport and deliver supplies and equipment
- Maintains an inventory of stocked supplies and reports any deficiencies to the Superintendent of Parks-Trades for ordering
- Substitutes for and performs the routine custodial duties when replacing the Community Center, Administration Center, or the Arlington Ridge Center Custodians when they are absent and adjusts work shift to fit particular assigned hours of absent custodian
- Performs minor building repairs, maintenance, and preventative maintenance including, but not limited to, plumbing, electrical and carpentry
- Sets up equipment for building activities and moves furniture and equipment, as needed
- Performs snow removal at facilities
- High school graduate or G.E.D.
- Minimum of two year's experience in general custodial work
- Or, any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
- Valid Illinois Class "D" Driver's License
- CPR and AED Certification required within six months of employment

- General work area is outdoors, with frequent exposure to natural and potentially extreme weather conditions while performing job duties
