The Health Educator is responsible for the assessment, planning, coordination and implementation of health education program(s) that focus on underserved racial/ethnic groups who are at high risk for illness, disability and death from chronic diseases. Salary offers are determined based on various factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, and equity. The full salary range for this position is $30.56 - $60.82 hourly. The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is about $30.56 - $40.00 Hourly. Qualifications Required: Master's degree in Public Health, Nursing, Nutrition or related field OR a Bachelor's degree in Health or a related field and at two years of experience providing health education services in a public health or primary health care organization. Working knowledge of health education issues and programs including nutrition, lifestyle and behavioral issues. Working knowledge of chronic diseases and strategies to improve patient adherence to medical treatment plans. Bilingual English/Spanish language skills. Ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team, and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Knowledge of the Latino culture and diet. Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of people of various educational and socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to function efficiently and independently, and to plan and prioritize daily work activities to meet clinic goals and objectives. Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and Access. Ability to travel between clinics and community organizations to conduct health education programs, presentation, services and outreach.
