JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: Under the supervision of the Manager, Software Quality Assurance Engineer, the key roles are to part of a larger team of manufacturing, mechanical and software engineers, developing our next generation of solutions, as well as improving existing products. Testing projects include machine/hardware interaction, user interfaces, database storage and web-based reporting. In addition to performing key SQA functions, you will be supporting the engineering team by assisting with integration, documentation and improving our design process.

To excel in this key role, you must be able communicate clearly.

ESSENTAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborate with Development team in planning sessions to gain a solid understanding of requirements.
  • Effectively estimate the effort required to complete tasks.
  • Utilize exploratory testing techniques and open-source test automation tools to execute testing tasks, collaborating with the team to resolve any defects uncovered.
  • Lead demo/walkthrough of work completed during each development cycle.
  • Guide and assist business departments with User Acceptance Testing and Use Case adjustments.
  • Participate in the development and enhancement of testing techniques, procedures, and methodologies.
  • Enhance the functionality, performance, and scalability of our product suite.
  • Be involved in performing marketing endeavors/efforts.
  • Provide technical and administrative leadership and direction to the QA department personnel.
  • Communicate clear expectations to QA personnel and keep them informed of matters pertaining to their job.
  • Guide the Company's project documentation efforts.
  • Work with other leaders to plan and establish product goals and development strategies.
  • Drive the quality roadmap and implementation of standards, methods, metrics, and procedures ensuring the quality of our software products.
  • Act as a player/coach and bring leadership and guidance to the quality team across all facets of manual and automated testing efforts.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in quality with a track-record of innovation and 10+ years of enterprise software along with 5+ years of staff management experience.
  • A degree in Computer Science or related technical field preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 10+ years of Software Quality Assurance experience.
  • AS Degree in Computer Science or related.
  • Able to work independently as required.
  • Strong ownership and organizational skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working with Database testing techniques using SQL server, and a strong understanding of database schemas.
  • Demonstrated experience developing SQL queries and scripts used to validate and modify environmental data.
  • Proven ability to analyze and understand acceptance criteria, and devise a test strategy to adequately cover the requirements, develop high-level test scenarios that implement the strategy, and elaborate scenarios into detailed test cases and automated scripts.
  • Strong debugging skills and ability to accurately troubleshoot issues discovered in test and production environments.
  • Experience with complex product development (electro-mechanical/software) in a regulated industry environment (such as Military/Aerospace/Automotive).
  • Proficient in English and related technical writing for communicating plans and results; MS Office applications (Word, Excel)
  • Able to work and communicate well with others.
  • A solid understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Control planning, management, and issue tracking techniques in a development environment. Candidate must be able to prioritize, organize and handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and delegate assignments.
  • Experience implementing and utilizing open-source automated testing tools.
  • Ability to obtain an understanding of software requirement and functionality through a variety of resources including documentation, interviewing users, interviewing developers, discussions with business analyst, as well as exploratory testing.
  • Possess the ability to provide fast, professional, and accurate information.
  • Ability to use the computer efficiently and the capacity to learn new software programs as they are rolled out.
  • Proficient with general office machines and programs to include Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and other software that might be utilized in the department.
  • Experience as a QA Engineer with team leadership skills.
  • Linux experience.
  • DHS or TSA experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Testing will take place in an office setting. However, QA Engineers will need to work in our Engineering Labs processing luggage through scanners. This involves lifting and carry luggage (up to 50 lbs.) to run through the DETECT 1000 scanner to test various software applications.
TRAVEL:
  • Some travel is expected to support demonstrations and on-site installations. Travel is not expected to exceed 15% of time but remain flexible to accommodate.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • 10+ years of Software Quality Assurance experience.
  • AS Degree in Computer Science or related.
WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.
  • Must qualify to pass government background checks.
