Job Title: Part-Time Bus Driver
Location: Weston Christian Academy (WCA)
Reports To: Transportation Coordinator/School Administrator
Position Type: Part-Time

Purpose Statement:

The role of the Bus Driver is essential in ensuring students' safe and efficient transportation while reflecting the school's Christ-centered values.

Job Overview:

We seek a responsible and reliable part-time bus driver to transport students to and from school-related activities, such as field trips and sporting events. The ideal candidate will prioritize student safety and demonstrate professionalism consistent with WCA's mission and values.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport students to and from WCA on designated routes and during school activities (field trips, athletic events, etc.).
  • Ensure students' safety by adhering to all traffic laws, driving regulations, and school transportation policies.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the school bus to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist students in boarding and exiting the bus safely when necessary.
  • Communicate any delays, issues, or concerns promptly to the school administration.
  • Follow the designated route and schedule with punctuality.
  • Foster a positive and safe environment on the bus by enforcing WCA's behavioral guidelines for students.
  • Attend required training sessions and meetings as scheduled.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to Christian education.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Previous experience driving a school bus is preferred.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to interact positively with students, parents, and staff, reflecting the values of WCA.
  • Knowledge of local traffic laws, school bus safety regulations, and emergency procedures.
  • Ability to work as a self-starter, motivated by the challenges and rewards of the ministry.
  • Strong commitment to student safety and well-being.
Spiritual and Professional Requirements:
  • Staff members must be born-again Christians who feel called by God to the educational ministry profession.
  • Staff members must have a mature Christian worldview and be willing to co-labor with the school to foster spiritual and academic growth in students.
  • Candidates must meet the requirements established by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
  • Ability to assist students with mobility needs if required.
  • Ability to conduct vehicle inspections and perform basic bus maintenance tasks, such as cleaning.
Working Hours:
  • This is a part-time position with variable hours depending on the school's needs, including mornings, afternoons, and occasional weekends for school activities and events.
