Job Description

The Radiation Therapist I is an entry-level position that delivers external beam radiation therapy treatments to patients according to the treatment plan developed from the prescription/plan ordered by the Radiation Oncologist. This position will be under the tutelage of a preceptor.

Responsibilities

Delivers radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by a Radiation Oncologist and according to established practices and standards

Positions patients for treatment with accuracy, according to prescription

Records treatment data in patient medical record; monitors integrity of documentation for accuracy

Performs pre-treatment and pre-simulation time-out and quality assurance

Reviews prescriptions, diagnosis and treatment information; prepares equipment such as treatment and immobilization devices; and maintains and updates patient electronic medical record

Adheres to and applies radiation safety regulations and requirements as set forth by state and federal guidelines

Maintains all patient markings to ensure accurate delivery of treatment

Assists with CT and clinical simulations for use in the treatment planning process as ordered by the Radiation Oncologist

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Education: Graduate of accredited Radiation Therapy School/Program

Preferred Experience: Experience working with Varian Treatment Units and ARIA record and verify systems database

Required Certifications and Licensures: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy (R.T.-T.)
