Description

Job Summary:

The Light Assembly Production Associate is responsible for assembling various TrafFix Devices products and daily tasks range from applying sheeting to traffic safety cones, assembling aluminum boxes for the truck mounted attenuators, building sign stands, placing bases on traffic cones, along with various other assembly and production tasks as required by company production needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Interfaces with Light Assembly Production Lead to prioritize workflow based on order requirements.
  • Reads and understand part specifications and assembles parts and components according to company specifications.
  • Once parts have been assembled, calls for the team lead or engineering to conduct an audit on parts, and to have parts assigned a serial number if necessary.
  • Inspect assembled items for quality and touch up paint or materials, if necessary, after building has been completed.
  • Put assembled products on pallets and prepare pallet for storage using pallet wrap and storage labels.
  • Uses hand tools and power tools to assemble items, as well as forklifts and pallet jacks to pull materials from the warehouse and move assembled products to the warehouse for storage.
  • Prints part labels using hand scanner and apply to pallets prior to storage.

  • Consistently abides by established safety rules, procedures, and regulations including wearing required safety equipment such as safety shoes and glasses.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
  • Identifies and reports quality or safety issues to supervisor or manager.
  • Works effectively with co-workers and supervisors, sharing knowledge, resources, and experience to achieve production goals in a timely fashion, while promoting respect, communication, and teamwork.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements

Skills and Abilities:
  • Attention to detail: The ability to accurately inspect job orders and part numbers required to complete a build.
  • Time management skills: The ability to work efficiently and prioritize tasks is important to ensure products are assembled on time based on job significance.
  • Organizational skills: The ability to monitor the number of products required for production, as well as to identify products required for builds by part numbers.
  • Basic math skills: Basic arithmetic skills are necessary for accurately identifying parts and counting parcels for shipment.
  • Attention to safety: The ability to follow safety procedures and guidelines when using equipment is important to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Follow directions: The ability to follow established procedures while performing tasks, using tools, and handling materials. Carefully consider and follow instructions to complete tasks and deliver required results.
  • Dependability: Reliability and consistency of attendance, punctuality, and completion of assigned tasks according to established standards and expectations with little supervision.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Physical dexterity: The employee must be able to bend, twist, and reach while handling objects. The employee is also required to stand, walk, use hands to handle and feel, and to hear.
  • Lifting: The employee must be able to lift and move boxes weighing up to 25 lbs. on a regular basis and weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Vision: The vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Endurance: The employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time and perform physical tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exposure to elements: The employee will be working in a warehouse environment and may be exposed to varying temperatures and inclement weather conditions. There will also be frequent exposure to dirt and dust.
  • Noise level: The employee will be exposed to a moderate noise level in the workplace for most of the day, due to the constant use of forklifts and power tools.
