Supervises staff of an individual lab section ensuring all work performed in the section is accurate and completed within established or agreed upon turn-around times and in accordance with all policies and procedures. Drafts procedures/protocols as directed. Working with directors and managers establishes and implements technical and departmental procedures. Participates in quality improvement initiatives and serves as department representative to clinical programs as assigned by manager. Orients new employees and assures completion of all training, competency assessments, and mandatory education. Under guidance of the medical director and laboratory manager, monitors the testing program of the laboratory to ensure the highest quality of testing and the highest level of customer service. Leads individuals in work groups to continuously improve performance by creating an environment that assures application of quality principles and techniques to achieve desired outcomes. Interviews and recommends the selection of suitable candidates for employment. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards, laws, and requirements of requisite agencies by employing appropriate systems/processes. Consistently administers the established criteria and processes for evaluation, promotion, and termination of all staff within designated area of responsibility. Supervises the section participation in studies, research, publications, and public presentations. May coordinate with area schools and universities for clinical rotations/training of students. The Clinical Lab Supervisor must have the following: 5 years clinical laboratory experience with 1 year in supervisory/leadership role Current registration/certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology ASCP in one of the following: Certified Medical Technologist from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or Technologist registered/certified in one of the following: -Certified Technician in Hematology, -Certified Technician in Chemistry, -Certified Microbiology, -Certified Technician in Immunology, or Certified Tech in one of the following: -Blood Banking from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), -Registered Microbiology from the American Association of Microbiology (AAM) .
