The Orthodontic Assistant is responsible for providing support to an Orthodontist including patient care and chairside assistance, and treatment for various forms of misalignment of teeth. This position executes on treatment plans with patients and families.

The primary duty of the Orthodontic Assistant is to assist in the overall delivery of orthodontic care and play an integral part of the overall patient care team by consistently delivering the most memorable and fun service experience possible for every patient, everyday in every office.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare treatment area for patient by following procedures and protocols.
  • Prepare patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting and seating patients.
  • Assist the doctor in bonding, banding and debonding of patients.
  • Assist the doctor in placing and removing orthodontic appliances.
  • Perform a variety of orthodontic adjustments.
  • Perform and store orthodontic records in consideration with company policy.
  • Perform dental infection control procedures.
  • Take X-rays, iTero scans and quality photos.
  • Perform all lab-related procedures.
  • Complete all care calls.
  • Assist in managing and controlling supply inventory.
  • Document dental care services by charting in patient records.
  • Maintain strict compliance with all pertinent laws and regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, ADA, Dental Board, etc.)
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Get along well with others and have a supportive, team-player attitude.
  • Possess a strong attention to detail and desire to get things done quickly.
  • Adapt well to a fast-paced environment where changes occur frequently.
  • CPR and/or BLS certification.
  • X-rays and photos.
  • 3D Scanning (iTero).
  • Use of Dental Technology, Provide Oral Hygiene Instructions, Infection Control, Patient Services, Creating a Safe, Effective Environment, Listening, Teamwork, and Chairside Manner.
Education and Experience:
  • Certified as an Orthodontic Assistant by the Dental Assisting National Body (DANB) preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of Dental or Orthodontic Assistant experience preferred.
