Lab Processor

FULL TIME (Monday-Friday 12pm-8pm)

Millennium Physician Group is seeking to hire a full-time Lab Processor to join the Lab team. We are looking for a new team member who is positive, energetic, well-organized, has the ability to multi-task, and think outside of the box.

The Lab Processor position is vital in ensuring samples meet all the requirements needed for quality results prior to testing. S/he will review each blood sample to assess if it is suitable for testing. For example,

• Is the sample hemolyzed,
• Is the sample tube type correct for the ordered test,
• Is the sample too old...

In addition, the Laboratory Processor is responsible for distribution of samples to the Technologists for testing, lab supply orders, messaging collection sites that sample was unsuitable for testing, answering important phone call requests for results, helping patients find the correct collection site closest to them, and routing samples to other reference labs. S/he may also be responsible for covering absences and vacations of other staff. Phlebotomy experience is essential for this job. Other duties will include waived testing and laboratory assistant job responsibilities. All other duties as required.

Required Knowledge and Experience

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills and Abilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong computer skills and knowledge of EMR systems; Athena knowledge preferred but not required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb and balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
