Job Description:
Our client located in Providence, RI is looking for a Solutions Architect to join their team. The Solutions Architect will be tasked with overseeing designing, describing, and maintaining the solution engineering related to a specific project. Their primary focus is on supporting the leadership team in making technical decisions regarding the solution and how the decisions impact the business outcomes from developing an overall technical vision to evaluating tech solutions. This includes coordination between all business and IT units. The Solutions Architect will examine the current system architecture, and work with business and technical staff to recommend solutions that result in a more effective system within current contracts and for future procurements. Responsibilities of the IT Solutions Architect require strong project management, knowledge of software development processes and exceptional leadership and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Creating and leading the process of integrating IT systems for it to meet the requirements of an organization
- Conducting system architecture evaluation and collaborating with project management and IT development team to improve the architecture
- Evaluating project constraints to find alternatives, alleviate risks, and perform re-engineering if required
- Driving procurement processes for IT solutions, including drafting Requests for Proposals, managing evaluation and contract negotiation processes, and contributing to Advanced Planning Documents
- Updating stakeholders about any issues connected to the architecture
- Reviewing and proposed fixes to technical issues as they arise
- Analyzing the business impact that individual technical choices may have on a client's business processes
- Supervising and guiding technical teams
- Continuously researching emerging technologies and proposing changes to the existing architecture
- Review proposed technical solutions to ensure they meet the business needs and SDLC standards
- Analyze and communicate project status effectively to project leadership
- Participate in strategic improvement initiatives
- Oversight of the selection of the most appropriate technology for business needs
- Oversee the evaluation of risks in third-party frameworks/platforms

- Bachelor's degree with specialization in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Mathematics or a closely related field; Master's degree is preferred; certification in project management is preferred
- Technical background and experience in system development
- Ability to consult management and engineering teams, with technical advice regarding business analysis, project management, IT architecture, infrastructure, cloud development, and software architecture design
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to see the connections between layers of business operations
- Ability to define the beneficial solutions and the ones which are inefficient for a particular business need
- Ability to understand business goals and how to achieve them in the set timeframe and within the given budget
- Demonstrated ability to build effective partnerships with key business stakeholders and outside vendors
- Proven leadership, organizational and planning skills across different types of projects
- Experience with project management tools and best practices
- Experience with application development and software development life cycle methodologies
- Experience with ITIL practices including incident and problem management
- Required knowledge of JIRA, Excel, PowerPoint
- Experience with Health & Human Service systems regarding Health Insurance Exchange, Medicaid, SNAP, Child Care Assistance, and RI Works or TANF is preferred
