JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The position of Human Resources Manager is responsible for all aspects of human resource management for Puck Enterprises. It is critical for this position to understand the business, be able to partner with leaders to help solve business problems and be willing to work with leaders to support culture and performance.

Essential Functions

  • Acts as the principal HR representative for the organization, providing day-to-day HR advice and counsel to all levels of the organization.
  • Assists in maintaining a positive work environment and creates employee engagement programs to shape the employee experience, improve work relationships, productivity and retention.
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt, nonexempt and temporary workers; writes and places advertisements; works with hiring managers to screen and interview candidates; conducts reference checking; extends job offers; coordinates new-employee orientations; conducts exit interviews.
  • Manages and resolves employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Develops, recommends and implements company policies and procedures; prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures; ensures consistent implementation and application of company policies and procedures.
  • Assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. Communicates needs proactively to management and seeks to develop integrated solutions.
  • Leads the annual performance review process; revises, distributes, and reviews documentation, participates in review meetings, and assists managers with performance improvement plans.
  • Leads annual staffing plans, to ensure company has appropriate human resources to perform efficiently.
  • Implements and annually updates the compensation program; develops and rewrites job descriptions as necessary; conducts annual salary surveys; analyzes compensation.
  • Establishes and maintains HR department records and reports; produces accurate reports as required. Maintains organizational charts, employee directory, and the HRIS system.
  • Assists in identifying development and training needs and resources, registers or schedules, and personally conducts or facilitates training as required.
  • Prepares documentation and represents the company in resolving unemployment claims.
  • Assists in the development and administration of company recognition programs; assists in organizing company-sponsored events or activities.
  • Exercises discretion in matters of confidentiality.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of HR department and services performed.
  • Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 annually; maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. The position requires period of sedentary work, as well as visits to all areas within the facility, including the manufacturing area. While in the manufacturing area, the team member is exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the manufacturing environment can be loud.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position may occasionally require long hours and weekend work.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Required Education and Experience
  1. Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field.
  2. Five years of professional-level experience in human resources.
  3. Two years of supervisory experience.
  4. Proven ability to work effectively with all employees.
  5. Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
Preferred Education and Experience
  1. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
