QUALIFICATION EDUCATION: Minimum of B.S. from a college or university with an approved Occupational Therapy Education Program LICENSURE: Occupational Therapy license issued by Iowa Department of Public Health Iowa Board of Education Examiners Statement of Professional Recognition EXPERIENCE: Previous experience or interest in pediatrics desired ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Collaborate with LEA and AEA staff, other agencies, parents and caregivers regarding motor or sensorimotor based concerns Screen, assess and provide resources and/or service to student 0-21 in areas of activities of daily living, education and work activities, and play or leisure activities within least restrictive environments Manage time organize materials, and communicate with AEA and LEA staff to effectively manage cases of assigned students Fulfill IEP and IFSP service delivery minutes, and maintain timely documentation and billing Utilize individualized occupational therapy interventions for children and youth with disabilities in the educational environment Monitor student progress toward measurable educational goals and objectives Participate in supervising clinical interns and in other student training Supervise occupational therapy assistants Develop and/or participate in professional enrichment activities to maintain a high standard of service delivery Engage in public awareness activities to assist consumers in understanding their service outcomes on the occupational therapy profession in the educational setting Serve as an advocate for all children and youth Report any and all violations of rules and regulations to supervisor Assume responsibility for adapting, designing, ordering and maintaining equipment Provide training and coaching to student's or child's caregivers in how to best implement routine-based strategies and tiered supports Participate in IEP and IFSP meetings and engage in team decision making Other duties as assigned COMMON TO ALL EMPLOYEES: Contributes to a positive and productive work, learning and team environment Believes in, advocates for, understands, supports and delivers the priority work of the AEAs, Iowa Public and Accredited Schools, the Iowa Department of Education and Prairie Lakes AEA Focuses upon agency and team efforts to deliver equitable, efficient and effective educational services that prepare Iowa children for a life well-lived Anticipates and responds to needs, requirements and expectations of clients resulting in acceleration, inspiration and innovation Demonstrates effective verbal, non-verbal, written, listening and visual communication Possesses effective interpersonal, collaboration, facilitation skills and is committed to relationships and partnerships, within and outside of the agency Exhibits self-motivation, reliability, organization, detail and quality and engages in continuous improvement of professional practice to build skills needed to perform job duties and meet agency goals and expectations Manages time effectively so that timelines are met and improved results are evident in learning, professional capacity and system effectiveness Problem solves by utilizing data-based decisions, preventing and resolving conflicts and providing comprehensive, high quality solutions Works with integrity and maintains confidentiality Models and integrates technology into daily work Leads professional development for at least one course, internally, externally or both Understands other duties and responsibilities may be assigned, according to current needs of the agency or districts served PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to travel between schools and sites served. Normal, routine levels of activity related to bending, carrying, climbing, hearing, lifting, reaching, sitting, standing, vis on and walking. Ability to regularly get up and down from the floor, climb stairs, and deliver and manage positioning and adaptive therapy equipment. May also involve above-average levels of activity at times that cant always be anticipated.
