TITLE: SPEECH/ LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

Reports To: Building Principal Special Education Director

Job Goal: Under the general direction of the Principal. The speech language pathologist will be responsible for creating a program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth of each student.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders.

• Valid Missouri Speech and Language Specialist teaching certificate and/or be eligible for certification and or have a Master's degree and State Licensure in Speech Language Pathology, CCC/SLP or CFY

• Knowledge of disabilities involved and special education process.

• Demonstrate the ability to work with diverse and multi-cultural populations

• Knowledgeable of teaching techniques that meet the diverse needs of students

• Demonstrate skills in computer word processing, spreadsheets and data bases

• Experience in formative assessments, cooperative learning techniques, and data analysis

• This person will abide by all rules and regulations established by Poplar Bluff R-1 Board of Education

Performance Responsibilities:

• Assists in establishing department objectives and develops a plan for the implementation and

evaluation of these objectives.

• Develops implements and evaluates an IEP for each student on caseload.

• Designs classroom schedule to meet need of students and fit within structure of school.

• Conducts a classroom according to district policies, building rules and federal/state regulations.

• Creates a positive learning environment which includes a behavior plan and student motivation.

• Serves as member of diagnostic team, conducting testing and reports as deemed appropriate.

• Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by laws, district policy and administrative regulation.

• Attend staff meetings, workshops and training.

• Provides communication to parents and other professionals involved with students.

• Travels from school to school, as deemed necessary.

• Required to complete and enter caseload data of students with Medicaid within the required

timeline.

Essential Function of the Job:

• Must be able to lift, carry, and load computer equipment that will weigh as much as 30-40 pounds.

• Must be able to read, understand and follow up on written orders and instructions.

• Must be able to communicate (both verbally and written) with teachers, administrators, the state department and the U.S. Department of Education.

• Must possess good written communication skills.

• Must be proficient with various word processing programs, spreadsheet programs, database programs and network operating system programs.

• Must be proficient in preparation of various reports generated from student records program.

• Must hold valid driver's license and be able to travel to buildings within the district.

• Any other duties assigned by the administration.
