The Neurosurgical ICU DEPARTMENT at Dignity Health St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center is a dynamic environment where you can pursue a highly challenging and rewarding career.  U.S. News & World Report has consistently recognized Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center as one of the top 10 hospitals for Neurology and Neurosurgery in the country. Touching the lives of more than 5000 patients each year our 32-bed NEUROSURGICAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT specializes in treating patients with neurological injuries and diseases that may require endovascular intervention brain and spinal tumors subarachnoid hemorrhages and neuro-trauma patients. To thrive in this role you’ll heavily depend on your ability to multitask and react. You’ll clinically care for your patients- remaining focused and attentive as you continuously monitor your patients throughout your shift. You also serve as their advocate- supporting their best interests when they cannot. However your sound judgment during an emergency and rapid response are impressive putting you on the radar for advancement.

Position Summary: 

  • Assess patient/family health problems and resources taking a leadership role in the development implementation and outcomes evaluation of a plan for nursing care. 
  • Provides professional nursing care and interventions to acutely ill adult patient populations. 
  • Position requires providing service to one or more age groups including young adults through geriatric patients in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served. 
  • Position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the organization. 
  • It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. 
  • The employee will support the organization's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the hospital wide performance improvement plan.

Qualifications

Minimum: 

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. 
  • AZ RN  or Compact State License 
  • American Heart Association BLS certification

Preferred:

    • BSN Professional certification in area of specialty
    • One year recent acute care experience
