MAIN FUNCTION: The Multi-specialty Registered Nurse (RN) is a highly skilled nurse who has been practicing a minimum of two years within the acute care environment. This RN will be proficient in the care of cardiac patients and dysrhythmia interpretation. Critical care experience is preferred. In this role the RN will be expected to function in a variety of clinical settings within the organization. This RN will receive training and be expected to competently care for patients in the PACU, CRCU, Emergency Department and any other area of clinical competency based on the needs of the organization. This RN interacts effectively with other disciplines and is recognized as a role model, clinical resource and leader who demonstrates commitment to achieving organizational goals as well as personal and professional development.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION : Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, BSN preferred. Current RN licensure in CT Required. BLS and ACLS required.

EXPERIENCE : Minimum of two years experience. Ability to practice according to this definition: The process of diagnosing human responses to actual or potential health problems, providing supportive and restorative care, health counseling and teaching, case finding and referral, collaborating in the implementation of the total health care regimen, and executing the medical regimen under the direction of a licensed physician, dentist or advanced practice registered nurse. .

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Position requires ability to frequently push/pull/lift light objects more than 50lbs, perform difficult manipulative, arm-hand steadiness, and hand-eye coordination skills; walk and stand for prolonged periods; see objects closely and far away and hear normal sounds with some background noises. Position requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with interruption and attend to tasks for more than 60 minutes at a time. Individual must be able to understand and relate to theories behind several related concepts and remember multiple tasks given during the course of the day.
