Position Summary

Inspectors are directly responsible to the Director of Maintenance and Logistics for ensuring that all maintenance performed on Company aircraft, engines, appliances, and accessories is accomplished in accordance with approved Aircraft Technical Orders, Company programs, Contract requirements and FAA Regulations to maintain a continuous state of airworthiness. Inspectors ensure that safety is the first consideration in Quality Control and Maintenance Departments.

Essential Functions Statement:
  1. Accomplish aircraft inspections, in accordance with the applicable maintenance program specifications, procedures and criteria to detect and document discrepant or non-airworthy conditions.
  2. Ensure all special inspections are completed and properly documented in the maintenance records.
  3. Perform required inspections (IPI and/or RII) on items as listed in technical/company manuals and in accordance with procedures listed in the GMM/technical data.
  4. Monitors workmanship and materials to verify that the Company, NAVAIR and FAA rules, regulations and standards are complied with.
  5. Ensure that aircraft modifications or component changes follow maintenance manual procedures or approved technical data procedures.
  6. Ensure all required inspection items (RII) are completed and documented properly and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) have been received, reviewed, and approved prior to any aircraft modification action.
  7. Perform receiving inspections of newly purchased, repaired, overhauled parts or continued service components and hardware to ensure proper documentation from approved vendors, absence of shipping damage, proper packaging, protection, and airworthiness certification.
  8. Ensure assistance in the classification of repairs and alterations in relation to Major or Minor repairs.
  9. Responsible for maintaining Weights and Balance Program for the entire KC-135 aircraft.
  10. Reviews all maintenance entries in the aircraft maintenance records/MIS, initiating procedural error notices as necessary to correct incomplete or deficient paperwork.
  11. Monitors/audits aircraft inspection reports, log pages and records for accuracy and completeness of entries before being sent to the Aircraft Records Department.
  12. Conducts routine and unscheduled audits of aircraft work packages including checks/inspections forms, log pages, routines and non-routines, modification orders, etc. to ensure completion, correctness, use of appropriate references to approve data in all entries and forms.
  13. Reviews all Deferred and Carry-Over Items.
  14. Monitors the Company Precision Measuring Equipment Program for compliance.
  15. Specific KC-135 experience is highly desirable.

Required Education and Experience

Education: B.A./B.S. degree from a four-year college or university in a related field and/or combination of education and related experience.
  • Formal training as a lead auditor.
Experience:
  1. Five (5) years’ experience in an aviation administration function dealing with Quality matters.
  2. Experience performing internal & external audits.
  3. Advanced knowledge and experience of aircraft weights and balances.
  4. Experience in an aviation centric Quality Management System (QMS).
  5. Knowledge and experience with implementation of QMS.
  6. Knowledge of all areas of aircraft QMS, AS9100 and AS9110.
  7. Knowledge of external agencies (including FAA, NTSB, ICAO, EASA, etc.)
  8. Leading Quality Management Reviews.
  9. Prepare and deliver presentations to senior leadership.
  10. Perform internal and external audits.
  11. Demonstrate ability to act as a Quality Ambassador for the organization, both internally and externally.
  12. Manage a Quality program with a focus on continuous improvement.
  13. Graduate from a formal auditor’s course with accreditation.
  14. Understand aviation related quality assurance programs.
  15. Prior military/contractor aviation support experience.
  16. Specific KC-135 experience is highly desirable.
Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio).

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Current US Passport

  1. Must be able to accomplish all duties with little or no assistance.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require.

Work Environment
This job operates within flightline, industrial and business office locations. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, computers, iPads, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and aircraft inspection devices such as flashlights, magnifying lenses and cameras.
