The primary function of this position is to process residential mortgage loans and the preparation of mortgage loan closing documents. Assist in the on-going quality control of the mortgage department. Provide passionate service to create HOPE for our members.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Ensures that all lending and member service operations are professionally delivered.
  • Greets members entering the building and over the phone in a courteous, professional and timely manner.
  • Interviews loan applicants and presents loan products that best meet the member's needs.
  • Assists members in completing loan applications and obtains and evaluates credit reports.
  • Analyzes applicant's qualifications including debt to income ratio calculations, reviewing length of employment, length of residence, and collateral.
  • Approves loans within lending authority.
  • Notify applicants of loan decisions including deficiency explanations for loan denials.
  • Completes loan contracts by obtaining signatures and notarizations and collecting fees. Recommends and outline terms of loan.
  • Determine collateral needs and payment plans for members applying for loans and maintain customer confidence by keeping loan information confidential.
  • Must adhere to lending authority matrix for specified licensing institutions.
  • Responsible for the compliance of all residential real estate loans to NCUA rules and regulations, secondary market standards, and federal real estate lending laws.
  • Ensures that members are properly informed of credit union policies and procedures for both lending and member service products and services.
  • Maintain regular contact with other departments to obtain or convey information and/or to correct transactions, providing prompt, accurate and efficient member service.
  • Actively participates in all credit union incentives and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Cross-sells and promotes credit union products and services, focusing on lending products and making referrals to the lending center. Maintain knowledge of, follow, and adhere to all state and federal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures including BSA, Patriot Act, and OFAC requirements, including verifying member identity.
  • Maintain strong credit union product and service knowledge while supporting and adhering to Trius's standards and accountability.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or High School diploma or equivalent (GED) Prior mortgage lending and customer service experience a plus.
  • Must be a dedicated, self-motivated person with a passion and skill for providing excellent member service.
  • Be an exceptional communicator with adaptability to different verbal or written communication styles.
  • Be comfortable communicating with a sales and service perspective and speak with financial fluency.
  • A conversation starter that is proactive in building rapport.
  • Forward-thinking, and an excellent problem solver.
