Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Two years of junior college or technical school desired.
- Three years in industry or construction desired but not required.
- Valid Georgia vehicle operators permit.
- Have basic knowledge of computers.
- Heavy work: Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs. and occasional lifting of 100 lbs. (assisted)

Primary Job Goal:
To assist in the comprehensive program of school maintenance which ensures the school's operating excellence and provides a safe, secure, and wholesome learning environment in support of the district's mission.
Performance Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Be familiar with building plans.
2. Be prepared to shut off electric, gas and water in emergencies.
3. Perform routine and scheduled maintenance tasks as needed.
4. Maintain tools and equipment for performance of jobs at hand.
5. Establish working relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
6. Advise principals in all aspects pertaining to facilities operation as required.
7. Be familiar with all warning and signaling devices.
8. Be familiar with and make necessary repairs to all hardware locking devices.
9. Keep abreast of safety and fire codes; furnish planning assistance to principals and supervisors.
10. Know capabilities and/or when to request outside assistance.
11. Make repairs on electrical fixtures, appliances, ballasts, switches, receptacles, breakers, etc.
12. Perform all phases of carpentry work.
13. Make repairs on all HVAC systems.
14. Make plumbing repairs, including fixtures, drains, restroom partitions, paper towel and paper tissue dispensers, etc.
15. Be proficient in welding and sweating techniques to include oxy-acetylene and electric.
16. Possess a valid Georgia vehicle operator's permit and operate, in a safe manner, assigned school owned vehicle in the performance of assigned duties.
17. Maintain certification in refrigerant recovery, disposition and inventory.
18. Other duties as assigned by the maintenance director or any maintenance supervisor.
Other Functions:
Daily attendance and punctuality are required to ensure the goals of the work unit are met. Applicants must be prepared to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or snow. The nature of our work requires employees to be adaptable and capable of performing their duties regardless of outdoor weather conditions.
Working Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Generally, the job requires 30% sitting, 70% walking, 40% lifting/carrying, and 70% standing.
Evaluation: System evaluation form completed annually by the Director of Maintenance.
