The role involves reviewing prescriptions, directing pharmacy workers, maintaining quality assurance, and handling data entry for pharmacy files. Candidates must be licensed in Illinois.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review prescriptions issued by physicians or authorized prescribers for accuracy.
- Determine formulas and ingredients needed for medications.
- Direct pharmacy workers in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
- Provide information to customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
- Maintain procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
- Enter data such as patient name, prescribed medication, and cost to maintain pharmacy files, charge systems, and inventory.
- Assay medications to determine identity, purity, and strength.
- Instruct interns and other medical personnel on pharmacy-related matters.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Licensed Pharmacist in Illinois.
- 4-7 years of retail pharmacy experience.
- Comfort with working on feet all day; no heavy lifting required.
Preferred Experience:
Candidates with mail-order or industrial pharmacy experience handling high-volume orders are also considered.
