The Tax Coordinator resides within the Enterprise Financial Services (EFS) team. This position is responsible for reviewing customer tax exemption certificates as managed from our HQ. The primary focus of the role is documentation audit, answering the shared email inbox, and answering phone calls from our hotline 800#. The day-to-day tasks in this role include direct contact with stores, reps and other financial employees. CORE RESPONSIBILITY Review and validate or invalidate Tax Record Cards for all States, Districts, and Territories utilizing the TRC System based on customer type, state sales tax laws, and certificate provided utilizing the rules for all states as issued by our Sales Tax Department, or the rules as issued by the Manager of Sales Tax Compliance Maintain a working understanding of sales tax laws for States, District, and Territories utilizing the TRC System as issued by the Sales Tax Department or by the Manager of Sales Tax Compliance Answer phone calls and emails from store personal, sales reps, credit personnel, and customers in regard to sales tax laws and rules, product exemptions, customer exemptions, and sales tax corrections Inform the Manager of Sales Tax Compliance of any potential issues in regard to validation rules issued or never issued by our Sales Tax Compliance or by the Manager of Sales Tax Compliance Create daily work lists "TRC ToDo Lists" CORE RESPONSIBILITY Train store and credit personal via phone and/or email on the proper use of the TRC System Train new co-workers in all aspects of Tax Record Card validation and processing Assist in research and development of training webinars Assist in TRC Roll Outs CORE RESPONSIBILITY Research customer's business activity via websites to correctly evaluate exemption claims Research state websites to correctly evaluate exemption claims CORE RESPONSIBILITY Manually create National Account TRCs certificates as required CORE RESPONSIBILITY Manually index incoming exemption certificates as required POSITION REQUIREMENTS FORMAL EDUCATION: Required: High School Diploma Preferred: College Degree KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Required: Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining accurate results Attention to detail Ability to work with minimal supervision Preferred: Sales Tax experience TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word Preferred: Sales Tax Knowledge Sherwin-Williams is proud to be an Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, Inclusion and Diversity Supportive Employer.
