Job Summary:
Diagnose, repair, and maintain specialty vehicles and trucks including but not limited to work on electrical systems, diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, drivetrains, etc. Also responsible for small repairs on engine attachments, body leaks/repairs, parts ordering, documentation, and record keeping, reviewing DVIR's, completing recalls, moving units as necessary, general assistance and training. This position requires the employee to understand service department standards including technician efficiency and productivity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.
2. This position will be required to understand the performance of maintenance and repairs on gas- and diesel-powered vehicles as well as all other systems and components found within the vehicle.
3. Ability to diagnose and repair all systems in buses and trucks.
4. This position will be required to supervise technicians of various backgrounds and abilities.
5. This position will be responsible for communicating repair times and expectations to technicians.
6. Ensure parts requests are processed in an effective, complete, and timely manner.
7. Work with parts personnel to ensure that parts are being assigned to repair orders and any back orders are communicated.
8. Ensure repair orders are opened and closed completely, accurately and in a timely manner.
9. Maximize productivity and efficiency levels of technicians.
10. Develop ongoing procedures to ensure an efficient and effective department.
11. Become familiar with the dealer business system and have the ability to utilize it to run reports, input data and run day to day business.
12. This position requires the ability to learn new products and methods as well as the potential ability to teach learned skills and abilities to lower-level technicians.
13. Take a leadership role in the Service Department and have the ability to cover for the Service Manager as needed
14. Effectively communicate with Customers in regard to on-going repairs, quotes for service, completion times, etc.
15. Provide accurate estimates for repairs to external and internal customers.
16. Ensure production timelines are met including communication of delays prior to the vehicle being overdue.
17. Assist with the development and evaluation of all technicians.
18. Assist with the development of departmental work schedules.
Position Requirements
Experience and skill requirements:
-Associates Degree-Technical School
-Class A or B CDL, OR the ability to obtain.
-Endorsements: Passenger (P) and School Bus (S).
-Ability to pass medical examination.

-Quality: Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and monitor own work to ensure quality.
-Adaptability: Able to quickly adapt and respond to a rapidly changing work environment and manage competing demands in a productive manner.
-Dependability: Demonstrated ability to consistently be at work and on time as scheduled, follow instructions, respond to management direction, and solicit feedback to improve performance.
-Should be honest, assertive, and systematic.
-Know proper teaching techniques, demonstrate good human relations and communication skills; able to recognize something that is wrong or incomplete, and knowing how to apply logic as well common sense when addressing situations.
